Leis, flowing spritzes and sweet ukulele tunes. Secret Foodies brings a taste of the tropics to Sydney’s CBD.

While the weather may have conjured an image of the perfect tropical thunderstorm, Secret Foodies guests arrived in their most colourful and summer-inspired attire to our Tropical Oasis cocktail party. Hosted at the striking Hacienda Bar inside the Pullman Quay Grand Sydney, Foodies were immediately greeted by one of Sydney’s most iconic views of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. Adorned with pops of pink, lush foliage and plants, the venue was its own botanical oasis.

No tropical getaway would be complete without a colourful lei, and so guests were greeted by Ms Darlinghurst, aka Alex Adams, with a colourful lei and one of Secret Foodies’ signature glittery masks.

Adding to the party atmosphere was the talented Slide McBride, the talented one-man performance who serenaded the crowd with his lively ukulele tunes. There to provide the delicious refreshments on the day was Crafters Union. With a desire to create something unique, Crafters Union has created a fun and creative range of canned spritzes and wines.

Flavours included sparkling pinot gris with apple and strawberry, sparkling rosé with blood orange, sparkling wine with lemon and botanicals and sparkling rosé with lime. To accompany these refreshing beverages, guests were also treated to a canned rosé and pinot gris.

As guests cheered drinks and bopped along to the music, a selection of canapés circulated the room throughout the after. Karaage chicken teamed with a lightly whipped aioli whetted people’s appetites, while pumpkin flowers with whipped ricotta, Kalamata olives, yellow box honey and herbs proved to be a crowd favourite. Other canapés included prawn skewers served with saffron aioli, and a light pork fillet with fresh fruit.

As the frivolities continued into the late afternoon, Foodies mingled with both old friends and new!

Special thanks goes to the Hacienda team for making the day possible.

We would also like to thank Crafters Union for supplying the drinks on the day.
